365 Cards Day 207 "DIY Patterned Paper"

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to make your own patterned paper. OK here we go...

I used a patterned paper from a My Mind's Eye stack for the background paper and then handcut a label (I'd love to have some of the label dies that are around but alas, I cannot afford them- so I make up my own and cut them out by hand! A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do ;) Then I stamped a Tim Holtz -Flights of Fancy Clear stamp on the label in indigo ink and sponged the lighter blue over the whole label. After it was all dry, I stamped the sentiment. It is currently my favorite sentiment stamp- so cute. I cut some deep brown card stock with my Martha Stewart double scallop punch, topped it with another patterned paper from the same stack and tied on a button with my allllll time favorite-twine!

I am so excited to have done two challenges in two days! I love them and am completely addicted.

365 Cards Day 206 "Tuesday Triplets"

Well, it's been a while! I haven't had a lot of crafty time lately with work and baby and back to school and family commitments and...... you all know what I mean! It amazes me when I see how many of you complete every challenge every week (and then some!) WOWO.

I did manage to get this simple little cutie done this morning. I find that if I don't get a card done in the morning and post right away, I don't get it posted at all. Any of you have that problem??!!

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to use three of anything you put on your card... so if there is one there must be two more. Three stems, three flowers, three buttons, three pieces of twine!

It is inspired by this card at How About Orange.

I used my sewing machine to sew on the stem (3 stems) and then I punched 3 scalloped circles and snipped the scallops into petals and smushed them up a little to make them more flower-like. Those are glued on and then the buttons are tied with twine and stuck on with glue dots. The sentiment is actually 2 seperate stamps the "thanks" is a studio g and the "a bunch" is a rubber stamp from a set I got at the dollar store.

I hope you like and thanks for stopping by! See you again soon (hopefully!)

Three Challenges One Card!

I decided that I have to be more efficient now that I am back to work. I want to play along with the challenges, yet I don't have the time to make three separate cards... hence, this one card-three challenges.

I am playing along with the Color Throwdown, Get Sketchy and 365 Cards folks.

These are the colors for the Color Throwdown # 59.....

Here is the sketch from Get Sketchy #5......

And the challenge today at 365 is to add "Just a Touch" of color to a stamped image.

So, here is my adaptation of the three challenges:

365 Cards Day 192 "So Sweet"

I am officially "back to work" after an extended (lucky me!!!) maternity leave. This, of course, means less crafty time :( boohoo. I am off for the day though, so I thought I'd get a card in!

The challenge today at 365 Cards is to use the word"sweet" on your card.

What is sweeter than a cupcake?!?!

I added some puffy paint to the heart on the cupcake....it looks like icing to me-yum!

Hope you all had a great long weekend and a super day ahead!

365 Cards Day 188 "touchy, feely friday"

The challenge at 365 Cards today is to use felt or flocking on your card.

I have some Sassafras Lass Felties that I immediately thought of when I saw the challenge, but, try I as might, I couldn't work it. They are just adorable too, so I am at a loss for my loss of inspiration :(.

I did come up with something though....

I cut out the flower with my Cuttlebug and tied it with a button & twine from my bin of goodies. The striped paper is distressed around the edge using the Tim Holtz paper distresser... fun! And the stamp is one of the many Hampton Arts Studio G clear stamps sets that I got on ebay. They are so cute that I cannot resist them. A bit of machine stitching and a bit of marker stitching et voila!

Have a great long weekend and be safe!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #16

I just lovelovelove the colors Dawn chose for this challenge! They make me feel so warm and cozy!

I had some time yesterday while Norah was sleeping to creep around some very creative, inspiring blogs. I am constantly amazed by the work produced. But, yesterday, I came across this card and fell in LOVE! It was made by Amber using a card stitching pattern she found at stitchingcards.com . It turns out they have some free patterns to download and try out. They come with complete instructions and some general directions for beginners (ME!). I had to give it a hook- they are soooo pretty!

So, to make a long story short, here is my version of the butterfly and my submission for the Raspberry Suite Challenge.

I used some American Crafts card stock, the sentiment is from a Studio G clear stamp set (the little ones-so cute!) and the rest is stuff I had in my stash.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

365 Cards Day 185 "Feeling Blue"

The challenge today at 365 cards is to use 3 shades of blue on a card.

I used the Get Sketchy layout from this week's challenge (again). I really like it because I get to use a few different patterned paper (which I lovelovelove).

I think there are at least 3 different shades of blue on this one!!

The sentiment is from the Fiskars "tis the season" set. Very cute.

I feel the chill in the air today and it made me think of getting ready for the holidays! Not that I won't be running around like a crazy person the weeks and days before- but I have ONE card made at least.

Thanks for looking and have a fantastic day!

365 Cards Day 184 "Movie Monday"

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to use these posters as inspiration.

I am a child of the 80's and I probably should've seen this one but I don't remember it!?!? But, based on the posters and what I can recall from the decade, here goes.

I used the no-sew ribbon gathering technique that I discovered here on Lisa's blog.

The layout is from this week's Get Sketchy challenge. I love how versatile it is and have used it a few times this week!

The sentiment is from a Studio G clear stamp set that I got on ebay for a greeeaaat deal. Love ebay. The gems are from the dollar store, as is the ribbon and the black&white patterned papers.

Thanks for looking! I will see you later, I suddenly feel like watching a movie, lol.
