Get Sketchy #3

When I was checking out Amy's blog and discovered that she was designing for Get Sketchy I had to pop over! This is my first time in though....I had to work myself up for it. These challenges are addictive.

Here is the sketch for this week.

And here is my attempt.

I used some American Crafts card stock for the base , the patterned paper is from the dollar store (love that place!). I used the Quickutz cookie cutter for the square and the circle is a Nestabilities- both run through my Cuttlebug. The sentiment is one of the Studio G clear stamp sets, and the twine is from my stash.

Thanks for looking and have a super-fantastic day!

Color Throwdown #57

Well, this is my first attempt at the Color Throwdown Challenge. I have been looking at the cards there for a while but today I gathered my gumption and made a card to submit!

Here are the colors for the week....

and here is my card....

I used bits and pieces from my stash so I am not really sure of their origins! The owl is a Studio G stamp that I got at Micheal's and colored with some colored pencils. I cut out the circle with my nesties and stamped the stitched border on him with Colorbox ink and a Little Yellow Bicycle Baby Safari stamp. I stitched the "quilt" on the sewing machine...harder then I thought it would be ;}

Thanks for looking, and I hope you like my first attempt at the throwdown!

365 Cards Day 182 "Sporty Saturday"

The challenge today at 365 Cards is to create a card with a sports theme.

I used some football stamps that I got with another set on ebay. At the time I said "when will I ever use these?!?", but I really wanted the other set and it was a super-duper deal! So, today, when I checked the challenge and it was a sporty theme, my honey said "there you go! you can use those football stamps now." Needless to say, I was both shocked that he was listening when I said "football stamps, what will I ever do with those?", and inspired to get going on the challenge. Breakfast is for wimps anyway! lol.

The strip of balls (mounted with foam squares for interest) and the helmet are both from the football set that I mentioned above, the sentiment is one of the $1.50 Studio G stamps from Michael's and the paper is from an autumn stack by Me and My Big Ideas that my beautiful mother in law gave me for Christmas last year. I cut the circles with my circle nesties (lovelovelove) and my Cuttlebug and mounted with foam squares too.

I can't believe that I pulled this one together, I am not a sports fan you see! But, I hope you like it and thanks for looking.

Blog Candy- Woohooo

Just thought you might want to check this out!

Emma is about to celebrate her blogoversary and is giving away some goodies!

365 Cards Day 180 "Going Vintage"

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to use a vintage image on your card. I knew I had no vintage stamps, so the search was on! Once again, that wallpaper sample book came to the rescue. The strawberry came from a border- very farm vintage! I ran a piece of cream card stock through my Cuttlebug and rubbed some taupe ink to age it a little & mounted the berry right on top of it. The sentiment is computer generated and the button and twine are from my stash.
Thanks for looking and have a super day!

365 Cards Day 179 "Checkerboard Background"

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to use a checkerboard background on your card. I am not sure if this qualifies, but...

It is actually way cuter in person. In the picture the squares just look messy but some of them are on foam squares and some are not...maybe that is why they look that way in the picture?!?!

The sentiment is one from a set of rubber stamps I picked up at the dollar store, and the paper is My Mind's Eye. I love brown and pink together!

Thanks for taking a peek and see you next time.

365 Cards Day 176 Super Sketchy Sunday

Here is the sketch today at 365 Cards ...

And here is my version of it....

The patterned paper is from one of my My Mind's Eye stacks.I used a Plaid rub-on on a circle of card stock that I punched. The package had several cups, teapots and spoons, how cute are they?!?! The sentiment is from Microsoft Word and the buttons and twine are from my stash.

We are waiting for Hurricane Bill here today. Hopefully he'll be kind to us, I am worried most about my beautiful garden- wish us luck!

Have a wonderful day all, and thanks for looking!

365 Cards Day 174 "Just Peachy"

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to use peach as the main color on your card. It just happens that I was at Micheal's and they were having a HUGE clearance! Everything marked down was another 50% off. I only had about 5 minutes but what a 5 minutes! I got a sweet Nursery stack by Prima Marketing. It has a peachy shimmer paper in it - fate sent it my way!!!

Now that I see the picture on the screen it looks more pinkie then peachy :( But look at the shimmer and glitter. What pretty paper.
I got the dragonfly at Clear Dollar Stamps. The sentiment is from the Chelsea Sentiments Inkadinkadoo set . I am getting better at saving the packaging from my supplies!

365 Cards Day 172 "ABCs and 123s"

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to include alpha stickers on your card (and at least one # sticker!). The card I made is for Norah's cousin who is turning ONE this weekend. I could've gone with the blue for boys color choice but.....

I just love orange and lime together- so citrus! I used American Crafts Autumn card stock for the card and tags (which I cut with an EK Success punch). The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye. I found the greatest little sticker books with alpha stickers and a few phrases and stuff at the dollar store. There were a couple of different themes- these stickers were in the summer themed book.

It is another hot one here today so, hopefully we'll get to hit the beach for awhile- it is Norah's favorite place!
We are so lucky to live on the coast where a beach is only minutes away :)

365 Cards Day 168 - A Touch of Toile

The challenge today at 365 Cards is to use toile as the background. Now, my family may beg to differ, but, as a newbie to card making, my supplies are somewhat limited. I had no toile paper! I did have some wallpaper sample books to turn to... and here is what I came up with.

The background paper is stitched to the cardstock- I have used wallpaper on a few cards and the glues that I have never seem to be sticky enough. I just got this new Martha Stewart border punch (double scallop) at Michael's and I was itching to use it, lol. And the metal embellishment is from the dollar store, there were five in the package! I am a dollar store junkie. There are not many places to shop for craft supplies in our small city so I find the dollar store to be a great source! In fact, my kids call it the $20 store :) .

Oh yeah, I almost forgot! I made these cute little cards yesterday- also found the adorable bubble stickers at the dollar store! I ran the cardstock through my Cuttlebug with the circle Quickutz (there were two different size stickers in the package). And the sentiments were from a paper stack that had a few alphabet die cut pages. I popped them up on foam squares and voila! I think they are so sweet- and so easy!

It is gonna be a scorcher here today (34 degrees C)!! That means beach allllll day.

Have a great one, and I hope it is as nice a day where you are!!!

365 Cards Day 162 Super Sketchy Sunday

Here is the sketch for the week at 365 cards ...

I found this one a lot of fun because the main focus is the patterned paper and I love patterned paper!

I made a few cards with this sketch but here is the one I liked the most, hope you will too!

365 Cards Day 167 "Gift" Card

The challenge for today at 365 Cards is to create a card that looks like a wrapped present. When I saw this paper it reminded me of a gift wrap so when I checked the blog this morning it was an easy decision! The paper is from a My Mind's Eye stack. The tag I made from an EK Success punch and the sentiment is from a Dollar Store set that I use aallll the time! I have had a hard time participating this week...time restraints and such, so I am super happy to post today! Have a great weekend all.

365 Cards Day 160 "Lovely Lace"

Today's challenge at 365 Cards was to use lace on your card.
This one was kind of tough for me because I am not a fan of lace (like it on other people's creations, but never sure of how much is tooooo much!). I didn't really have any lace in my stash, or so I thought. Then, when I was looking for something else, which I never did locate, I came across a package of lace appliques! I don't even remember buying them...maybe at a yardsale or something?!?! My mother-in-law asked me to make her a 50th anniversary card for her for the weekend so.....

I used some spray adhesive to attach the lace. I coated the numbers in gold ink and heat embossed them in gold, as well as the sentiment. I need a better "happy anniversary" stamp! I think you can see in the picture that I punched a circle in the card front and glued the "50" to the inside. It turned out better then I anticipated, and it may have converted me to a lace user!

365 Cards Day 158 "What's Your Sign?"

Today's challenge over at 365 Cards was to use a sign on your card. My brother's birthday is coming up next week and he is a car freak...he drives a race car and is a mechanic, so I guess he lives cars! This is him (you can't really see his cute face) in his race car. So, I decided to go with a car theme for his card. Since I was using a car-why not throw in a "stop" sign. It is even cuter because his business is called "Last Stop Auto". I think he's gonna laugh when he sees it!

365 Cards Day 157 "Imagine This-Sunflowers"

The challenge for day 157 was to be inspired by sunflowers... it wasn't necessary to have sunflowers on the card but I keep seeing these little black buttons as the center of the flower!
I used the Quickutz Nesting Squares to make the little squares. I hope you like!

365 Cards Day 156 "Ad Inspired"

Wow, I love that ad. It not only inspired my card....
but may have also inspired my bedroom makeover! I'll let you know how that turns out ;).
Once again, I really am not sure of the source of most of my supplies. I know that the cardstock is American Crafts Autumn Collection and that is about all. The background paper is from a wallpaper sample book and I chose it because it has a basket feel. Thank you so much for looking and for all of your encouragement. It really means a lot to me.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #13

Wow, I just started blogging today and I am on my third post! Forget about the dishes for now I say! This time I am showcasing my attempt at Dawn's challenge. I allllllwwaayys love her color combos and get so inspired when I peek at everyone's entries, so, here goes. I ran some white cardstock through my Cuttlebug to get that pretty texture on the background. I used the sketch from 365 Cards as inspiration for the layout. The moss cardstock is from American Crafts Autumn collection and the ink I used for the sentiment is Queue Colorbox Liquid Chalk. Hope you like and thanks for looking!

Planes, trains and automobiles!

Hi again,
Now that I have a real live blog I am feeling like posting all the time! Here is my attempt at the 365 Card challenge for Day 154 - Planes Trains and Automobiles. I just happened upon this sticker pack at Micheal's in the sale bin and knew they would be perfect for the challenge. Like I said, the stickers are from Micheal's, the sentiment is from Microsoft Office and the rest is from my stash (unknown origins!). Thanks for looking and have a great Sunday!

My First Post!

Hi there everyone! Welcome to my blog...I feel so " in the loop" now! Fitting that my first post starts off another great week at 365 Cards. Here is my take on the Sunday Sketch... I am really just starting out with cardmaking and tossed most of the packaging from my supplies before I realized that i should really save it or make note of it :(. I will try whenever possible to list my sources... the stickers are from Michael's and are EK Success, the patterned papers are from a stack called Wild Asparagus by My Mind's Eye, the rest is from my anonymous stash, lol.
I hope you like my little card and thanks for looking!
