Home is Where the Heart Is

Hi there,

Back with another double duty card! This time it's a CPS and 365 Card duo.
The challenge at 365 Cards today is to include a house on your card. And here is the CPS 149 sketch...

I got the inspiration for the house from the scrapbooksetc.com paper piecing section.

The background paper and the blue stripes are from the My Mind's Eye All Boy stack. The sentiment is printed on white cardstock using MS Word. I just cut it into a rectangle and inked the edges. The hearts are cut from a Cuttlekids die set. The house is pieced from all scraps so I have no idea where they came from ;) . I thought the little heart eyelet would make a cute touch!

So there you have it.... Home is where the heart is!

Have a super day and take care!

Color Challenge 21 AND 365 Cards Day 314-Braiding

Hello all!

I am soooo excited about this little card today. I love the flower (toot toot- that was me tooting my own horn, lol).
I made it for the 365 Cards challenge today which required the use of braiding. It is twine (my favorite!) braided and wrapped in circles on a piece of cardstock that I ran through my Xyron sticker maker. What do you think!?!?

I made the card in the beautiful selection of colors that Dawn gave us to play with this time around. They are so soft and pretty. (I did add a bit of green for the leaves though.)
The twine is from a big spool that I picked up at ValuVillage (a place that sells donated stuff and gives some of the money to charity), the card stock is all Recollections stuff from Michaels, the ribbon is Offray and the sentiment is TPC Studio-Greetings. I also used my Martha Stewart punch and Labels One Spellbinders.
I really hope you like my little braided flower!

Take care and have a great day,
Chrissy

I Heart You

Wow, this is two days in a row that I have gotten to a) make a card for a challenge and b) post it on my blog! So far so good with the kind-of New Year's resolution.

This card is actually for 2, yep, 2 challenges. The 365 Cards Find a Substitute challenge and the
2 Sketches 4 You sketch for this week. I may be turning into a multi-tasker, lol!

I used some patterned paper from the Paperbilities Seasons Patterned Paper pack that I picked up at Walmart a few years ago (before Michaels came to town- now we have 2 places to shop for supplies!!!) . I got the stamps on ebay for a steal (and the seller shipped for free! I am all about the deals, lol!).
They are Doodlebug Designs.
The puffy hearts are from the dollar store.

Thanks for stopping by and see you again soon!

CPS 148- Happy Birthday

So, as a kind-of New Years resolution, I decided to try and play along with more challenges. I love them, they are a great source of inspiration for me and I love to look at everyone's take on the various challenges.

One of the challenge sites that I love is the CPS site.

Here is the sketch for this week....

I used some scraps from my stash for this and my previous card posted earlier today! I am loving the idea of using up scraps! The flower is punched from an old book from a yard sale pile...I hope it wasn't a first edition or anything! The sentiment is from a TPC Studio greetings set.

Hope you like, and see you soon,

Chrissy

365 Cards Day 309- Super Sketchy Sunday

Happy New Year everyone! I don't know about you, but the holidays seem like such a blur! I had been so busy that I haven't been able to do a single challenge since the middle of November!!!

One of my New Year's resolutions-if I made them- would be to participate more. So, I'm going to start with yesterday's challenge from 365 Cards.

This is the sketch for the week....

And here is my version....

I pretty much stuck to the sketch exactly.....gotta warm up and get back in slowly! :)

The paper is all scraps, the sentiment is from MS Word and the gems are Recollections from Michaels.

See you again soon (I hope).

365 Cards Day 258 "Put a Lid on It"

WOW! It has been a long time since I have had the opportunity to post anything!!! My computer was broken for a while. When I got it back Norah (1 1/2 years old) had become obsessed with the Count from Sesame Street- I know, strange :}. Anyway, every time someone turned on the computer she wants to watch the Count on sesamestreet.org. So, all of my computer time was gone!!!
I have since learned to close the computer cabinet when she is around (out of sight out of mind, lol). She is really a riot. She dressed up as the Count for Halloween. So funny, most little girls are dressed as princesses and such. Not Norah. She is an independent soul.

Anyhooo, here is my card for today. Hopefully, it won't be another month and a half before I get to play along again. The challenge at 365 Cards today was to use a hat on your card.

I picked up the stamp at Michael's yesterday in the $1.50 bin. He is sooo cute. The paper is from a DCWV Holiday Stack, also from M's. (I got a gift card for my birthday last week and it had been burning a hole in my wallet!!lol). The sentiment is from one of the Studio G mini clear stamp sets that I am addicted to.

For a little extra fun I made his buttons and pompom out of gems- classy snowman.

Have a great day, thanks for popping by and I will see you again soooooon (I hope!)

365 Cards Day 207 "DIY Patterned Paper"

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to make your own patterned paper. OK here we go...

I used a patterned paper from a My Mind's Eye stack for the background paper and then handcut a label (I'd love to have some of the label dies that are around but alas, I cannot afford them- so I make up my own and cut them out by hand! A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do ;) Then I stamped a Tim Holtz -Flights of Fancy Clear stamp on the label in indigo ink and sponged the lighter blue over the whole label. After it was all dry, I stamped the sentiment. It is currently my favorite sentiment stamp- so cute. I cut some deep brown card stock with my Martha Stewart double scallop punch, topped it with another patterned paper from the same stack and tied on a button with my allllll time favorite-twine!

I am so excited to have done two challenges in two days! I love them and am completely addicted.
