2 Sketches 4 You: Laura's Sketch 44***Nuts About You

Hello All!

It is a super rainy day here....usually at this time of the year we would be buried in snow! Kinda crazy to be seeing rain and (relatively) warm temperatures....I am not complaining.

Today, I decided to give Laura's sketch at 2S4Y a try.

I used a hand cut squirrel and the heart I cut with my Cuttlebug. I stitched the square in chocolate thread on my sewing machine. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set. The patterned papers are both from My Mind's Eye stacks and the twine is from my stash.

Hope you likey and thanks for taking a peek!

Kiss Me

I made this card for Card Patterns Sketch 48.

I guess I am in full fledged Valentine's Day mode because I seem to be including hearts and such on all of my cards lately!

For this one I used a free digital kit from Two Peas called All Twitterpated, which is funny because that is how it made me feel. **I am trying to include a link to the kit itself but I am having trouble getting it to load at two peas, sorry**

The "kiss me" label and the smooches are from the kit. I just layered the smooch mask and printed it on white card stock. Then, I cut the circle with my Spellbinders scalloped circle.

The kisses and hugs in the background are done on MS Word and printed on white cardstock. I colored the little hearts to give them more importance!

I ran the brown card stock thru the Cuttlebug with my Swiss Dots folder. The satin cording is from a grab bag that I got at Fabricville for $1!! There was all kinds of fun stuff in that bag.

Thank you for stopping by and take care!

Glitter Valentine

Happy Weekend!

I have had the idea for this card for a long time, I bought the red glitter letters at Micheal's last year during the "after Christmas clear out". But the final piece came when I was at the dollar store and found the hearts.

I tried it with just the letters but I felt it needed something more....hence the heart border at the bottom. The hearts are from this digital kit, which was FREE! I just re-sized them and printed the border.

So, when I saw this challenge at Lucy's Cards- to use glitter I thought ' I "heart" glitter'! It was like a call from fate saying "get to work on that card missy"! And here it is.....

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by,
Chrissy

Oh yeah- I almost forgot to tell you.... I won Jane's new digi-stamp set "Jane's Bakery". I am so excited!!!! Check it out! It is so yummy. I can't wait to start creating with those goodies.

Take care!

Color Throwdown # 76

Happy Friday!

My doggie, Lily, this is her (and Taryn) a few years ago when she was a puppy..... had to go to the vet this morning to have a lump removed from her neck. We'll know by next week if it is anything to worry about but I can't get her off my mind. She is a very timid dog and is probably very scared right now :(

Anyhoo, the thing that keeps my mind busy is making something so I took a shot at the color throwdown!

Here are this week's colors.....

I love this combination it is so fresh and spring-like! Here is what I came up with.

I hand cut the bird image and adhered it to the card stock. I pierced around the border and back stitched with some embroidery thread. The sentiment is from a Heidi Grace set that I just got on ebay and couldn't wait to use! The ink is from the $1.50 bin at Micheal's and just happened to be the perfect color!

I had the urge to tie a ribbon or twine ( i heart twine) around the bottom.... what do you think? twine or no twine- the eternal question, lol!

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Tweet Valentine

Two cards, two sketches, a new obsession!

I was playing with some more of those free downloads and came up with these two cuties for a couple of sketch challenges!

I live in a town with very little choice for crafting supplies so when I come across a new resource (ebay for example) I get really excited. These downloads made me very happy :)

The two sketches I used were from CPS and CardPatterns....

I am really getting into these sketch challenges!

I used a few cute digital sets for both of these cards. I found them here and here. The "tweet" font I found here. It's called heartland- how cute is that?!?! And the brown and green background paper is from this kit. I resized the red hearts a few times before I printed them so I would have a variety to work with. I added the sentiment to the frame from the kit, but there were versions of the frame with sentiments already added. To finish the cards off, I inked around the edges with some Color Box ink.

I think that just about covers it! Have a great day and thanks for looking!

365 Cards Day 321- In Stitches

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to use stitching to highlight a feature on your card.
I used an image from a free download set I found here. The set is adorable and includes a few stitched flowers.

I printed one of the flowers on cardstock and used the stitching as a guide for my stitches. I chose to use threads that matched the colors of the image. I punched a circle of patterned paper and attached it to the center of the flower with a yellow button and twine (of course, I had to add a button and twine!). I stamped the sentiment from a Studio G mini set that I got on ebay and easy-peasy, the card is done!

Thanks for looking and have a fantastic day!

Hello Butterfly

Happy Thursday!

It's a gorgeous day here in Cape Breton- the sun is shining, there is no snow in the forecast and it's warm enough to make our poor snowman start to worry!

I wanted to share my attempt at the 2S4Y sketch.....

I am getting VERY addicted to these sketch challenges, lol.

I love this butterfly from Stitching Cards. For this card I scaled it down to fit my card design.

All of the patterned paper is from a My Mind's Eye stack that my sweet Taryn gave me for Easter last year. So cute, she even used her own money- doll.

I used one of the Spellbinder Labels One dies for the butterfly label and stitched it with some embroidery thread that I bought on ebay a while ago.

The ribbon is from Micheal's and the tag is stamped with a Hero Arts stamp. Oh, and I used the MS double scallop border punch too.

Hope your day is a great one!

Take care and thanks for looking,
Chrissy
