365 Cards: Day 179- White Space

Had to blow some of the layers of dust off of the poor, neglected blog and participate in a challenge!
I loved this white space sketch at 365 Cards...

I saw a great tutorial on Jennifer McGuire's blog on how to color butterflies with Copics. Now, I am not comparing this poor little butterfly to her masterpieces- I used Crayola markers and some butterflies that I found at momswhothink.com , but they did the trick for me!

I added a bit of glitter to the wings and glued just the body to the card- so the wings are free!

The sentiment is from the MSE Birthday set and the papers are from a package I got at Walmart a few years ago (threw away the packaging- sorry).

Hard to believe that the summer is coming to an end. It has been a busy one!

See you soon,

Chrissy

Father's Day

Happy weekend all!
Just wanted to pop in with this Father's Day card that I whipped up! I got so excited when I saw the prize at The Pink Stamper that I had to participate!!!

I used my Cricut Create and SCAL to make the oblong box with the sailboat cut out and then used a black marker in the Cricut to print the sentiment. I am really having fun with the new bug of my life. heehee.

The patterned paper is from a Me and My Big Ideas stack that I got at Micheal's a few weeks ago-lots of manly papers in it!

I cut the semi-circle with a Marvy punch and stuck the button in the blank spot. Easy as pie.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Life is Sweet!

Oh my goodness, it has been a while! Not to make excuses, but... right after I got my Cricut I got SCAL and became obsessed with it! I was playing with it and getting to know how to use them together and the unthinkable happened!!! A computer virus. It was a bad one and my computer was gone for a few weeks. So, since then, I have been trying to recover all that was lost when the bug hit.

Also, in the same time frame were my 3 kids' birthdays and Easter, no kiddin'!

So, here we are, back in action.

I love love love the sketches at 2S4Y, so I thought I would humbly play along this week.

Here is the sketch...

And here is my little card...
The papers are all from the DCWV Spring Stack, which, by the way, I picked up a Winner's for $11...it is 180 pages of cute! The cupcake is from Jane's Bakery at Squigglefly- with the glitter on top it looks good enough to eat. The ribbon and button are from Micheal's bargain bin and the label is cut with SCAL and my sweet little Cricut :)
thanks for looking and hope to see you soon!

Two Challenges, One Card

Thought I might get some multi-tasking in today by combining two challenges on one card!

So, I used the sketch from CPS....

And the colors from the Color Throwdown......

And here is what happened........

I used some My Mind's Eye patterned paper for the background and sewed it on with my sewing machine. The two scalloped borders, the scalloped circle and the frames for the sentiment I cut out with my Cricut. The tree stamp is from a Hero Arts "Anyone Can Stamp" set and the "thanks!" is from a TPC sentiment set.

Thanks for popping by and have a great weekend!

2S4U- Laura's Sketch 46

Hi there!

It is my first post since I got my CRICUT!! I am soooo excited, I haven't been able to do anything but play with my new toy!

So, my first card with the help of my little Cricut friend is for the 2 Sketches 4 You challenge.

I used my Cricut to cut the butterflies and frame (heehee). I ran the larger butterflies through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. The sentiment is from TPC and the ribbon is Offray from Walmart.

I have so many grand ideas running through my head to give the poor Cricut some exercise so I will be back soooon! Thanks for stopping by.

365 Cards- Day 347 {white space}

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to use this sketch and only embellish where the circle is- the rest is white space!

So, here goes!

The stamp is from the Colorbok Friendly Forrest set- I love that little deer! I just stamped her on a piece of card stock cut with my Spellbinders Label die. I stamped the little heart separately- it felt more Valentiney, then I added the little gem for the eye. The sentiment is computer generated.

Pretty simple.

Have a super day,

Be My Valentine -CPS

Hi there,

Just a little Valentine card to share, based on the CPS sketch for the week.....

It is a pretty CAS sketch so I kept my card CAS.

I ran some white card stock through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder- just the bottom half of the card. Then I stitched the ribbon on with a bit of red embroidery thread. The X's remind me of kisses.

I made the heart and sentiment with MS Word and printed it on card stock. Then I cut it out with a scalloped circle Spellbinder. I stitched around the heart and around the scallops by hand.

Thanks for stopping by and have a super week!

365 Cards Catch Up!

I had a little sleepy head baby this morning. She was out visiting last nite and slept in until 10am! So, I took full advantage and made a few cards.

These are for a few days ago at 365 Cards.

First is Day 340-Shape Up....using hearts on the card.

And the second card is for Day 341- Substitution Please...use a heart in place of a blossom.

I may even get another done before the day is out!

Thanks for looking and have a super weekend,
Chrissy

Card Patterns Sketch 49- Love You

Good day all!

This is the sketch from Card Patterns for the week.

And here is my version.

I used some patterned paper from My Mind's Eye All Boy's stack. The sentiment is computer generated with the Circus font and cut out with my Spellbinders labels die. The button is made from chipboard cut with the Cuttlebug and painted with acrylic paint and sealed with Mod Podge. The ribbon is from Micheal's and the eyelets are from the dollar store.

Have a great day and take care!

365 Cards Day 339- Love Is In the Air

Don't cha just LOVE Valentine's Day?!?!

I have been in Valentine's mode for awhile- let's face it, since Christmas, lol!

The challenge today at 365 Cards is to use the word "love" in the sentiment of your card. Easy-peasey!

I used a love ding-bat that I downloaded in anticipation of the arrival of my CRICUT!!! I am super excited. I used MS Paint to color the hearts and printed it on pink card stock. Then sentiment is from a Doodlebug stamp set.

That's all for now! See you soon and thanks for taking a peek.

365 Cards Day 336- The 3 S's

Good weekend all!

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to use stripes, square and spring. This tiny bouquet felt springy to me and the little square has rounded corners-I hope that still counts ;)

The striped paper is so old that I can't remember where it came from. The flower and sentiment stamps are Studio G, the ribbon is Offray and the punch is Martha Stewart.

Have a great weekend,

Chrissy

2 Sketches 4 You: Laura's Sketch 44***Nuts About You

Hello All!

It is a super rainy day here....usually at this time of the year we would be buried in snow! Kinda crazy to be seeing rain and (relatively) warm temperatures....I am not complaining.

Today, I decided to give Laura's sketch at 2S4Y a try.

I used a hand cut squirrel and the heart I cut with my Cuttlebug. I stitched the square in chocolate thread on my sewing machine. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set. The patterned papers are both from My Mind's Eye stacks and the twine is from my stash.

Hope you likey and thanks for taking a peek!

Kiss Me

I made this card for Card Patterns Sketch 48.

I guess I am in full fledged Valentine's Day mode because I seem to be including hearts and such on all of my cards lately!

For this one I used a free digital kit from Two Peas called All Twitterpated, which is funny because that is how it made me feel. **I am trying to include a link to the kit itself but I am having trouble getting it to load at two peas, sorry**

The "kiss me" label and the smooches are from the kit. I just layered the smooch mask and printed it on white card stock. Then, I cut the circle with my Spellbinders scalloped circle.

The kisses and hugs in the background are done on MS Word and printed on white cardstock. I colored the little hearts to give them more importance!

I ran the brown card stock thru the Cuttlebug with my Swiss Dots folder. The satin cording is from a grab bag that I got at Fabricville for $1!! There was all kinds of fun stuff in that bag.

Thank you for stopping by and take care!

Glitter Valentine

Happy Weekend!

I have had the idea for this card for a long time, I bought the red glitter letters at Micheal's last year during the "after Christmas clear out". But the final piece came when I was at the dollar store and found the hearts.

I tried it with just the letters but I felt it needed something more....hence the heart border at the bottom. The hearts are from this digital kit, which was FREE! I just re-sized them and printed the border.

So, when I saw this challenge at Lucy's Cards- to use glitter I thought ' I "heart" glitter'! It was like a call from fate saying "get to work on that card missy"! And here it is.....

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by,
Chrissy

Oh yeah- I almost forgot to tell you.... I won Jane's new digi-stamp set "Jane's Bakery". I am so excited!!!! Check it out! It is so yummy. I can't wait to start creating with those goodies.

Take care!

Color Throwdown # 76

Happy Friday!

My doggie, Lily, this is her (and Taryn) a few years ago when she was a puppy..... had to go to the vet this morning to have a lump removed from her neck. We'll know by next week if it is anything to worry about but I can't get her off my mind. She is a very timid dog and is probably very scared right now :(

Anyhoo, the thing that keeps my mind busy is making something so I took a shot at the color throwdown!

Here are this week's colors.....

I love this combination it is so fresh and spring-like! Here is what I came up with.

I hand cut the bird image and adhered it to the card stock. I pierced around the border and back stitched with some embroidery thread. The sentiment is from a Heidi Grace set that I just got on ebay and couldn't wait to use! The ink is from the $1.50 bin at Micheal's and just happened to be the perfect color!

I had the urge to tie a ribbon or twine ( i heart twine) around the bottom.... what do you think? twine or no twine- the eternal question, lol!

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Tweet Valentine

Two cards, two sketches, a new obsession!

I was playing with some more of those free downloads and came up with these two cuties for a couple of sketch challenges!

I live in a town with very little choice for crafting supplies so when I come across a new resource (ebay for example) I get really excited. These downloads made me very happy :)

The two sketches I used were from CPS and CardPatterns....

I am really getting into these sketch challenges!

I used a few cute digital sets for both of these cards. I found them here and here. The "tweet" font I found here. It's called heartland- how cute is that?!?! And the brown and green background paper is from this kit. I resized the red hearts a few times before I printed them so I would have a variety to work with. I added the sentiment to the frame from the kit, but there were versions of the frame with sentiments already added. To finish the cards off, I inked around the edges with some Color Box ink.

I think that just about covers it! Have a great day and thanks for looking!

365 Cards Day 321- In Stitches

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to use stitching to highlight a feature on your card.
I used an image from a free download set I found here. The set is adorable and includes a few stitched flowers.

I printed one of the flowers on cardstock and used the stitching as a guide for my stitches. I chose to use threads that matched the colors of the image. I punched a circle of patterned paper and attached it to the center of the flower with a yellow button and twine (of course, I had to add a button and twine!). I stamped the sentiment from a Studio G mini set that I got on ebay and easy-peasy, the card is done!

Thanks for looking and have a fantastic day!

Hello Butterfly

Happy Thursday!

It's a gorgeous day here in Cape Breton- the sun is shining, there is no snow in the forecast and it's warm enough to make our poor snowman start to worry!

I wanted to share my attempt at the 2S4Y sketch.....

I am getting VERY addicted to these sketch challenges, lol.

I love this butterfly from Stitching Cards. For this card I scaled it down to fit my card design.

All of the patterned paper is from a My Mind's Eye stack that my sweet Taryn gave me for Easter last year. So cute, she even used her own money- doll.

I used one of the Spellbinder Labels One dies for the butterfly label and stitched it with some embroidery thread that I bought on ebay a while ago.

The ribbon is from Micheal's and the tag is stamped with a Hero Arts stamp. Oh, and I used the MS double scallop border punch too.

Hope your day is a great one!

Take care and thanks for looking,
Chrissy
